Gilgalia's Diary

The personal diary of...
Gilgalia the Scoundrel

I have always been interested in poisons. I blame my parents. Or at least my mother. She was an alchemist in our village. She used to help people by healing them, or whatever they needed. Sometimes they came to her for other reasons. When I was a youngster, I remember one girl who was slightly older than me. She came to see my mother in floods of tears. Apparently something bad had happened to her, and now something was growing inside her. She wanted it gone. More to the point she wanted revenge on the man who put it there. I remember them sitting at the kitchen table discussing this situation over cups of herbal tea.

My mother relented and concocted something for the girl to drink. And then she made something to take away with her. Not sure what it was but it fascinated me. But ever since then, I've always had this obsession with poisons. I snuck into to see the books that were on my mother's shelves and copied some of the recipes that I found there. The effects of them seemed incredible. So I spent a lot of time practising how to make them, and when I felt that I had mastered them. I learned that there was more to be discovered. Apparently there was a God of Plague and Pestilence who had vanished long ago. He loved poisons, so I made a vow to try and find him. Perhaps I could learn more.

So, here are some of the pages of my diary as I try to seek my goal. May Xorn help me in this quest.

We met in the Inn... as many do. Over many brews and discussions we headed out to go and try our hands (and swords, knives etc.) at the local den of iniquity. We didn't fare too well, so we headed back to the Inn to lick our wounds and recover.

Whilst we were back in the Inn we were offered the chance to make a little more money. Naturally it was a chance we jumped at. Jekserah seems a bit odd, but she offers us good coin to do decent work.

So after we cleared out the first part of the Barrow, we had to delve deeper into it to find our elusive target. There he was flanked with a couple of archers. He kept running around opening up doors letting in shambling creatures who were literally falling apart as we looked at them. No matter, we sliced and diced and eventually managed to get 'em all. So we went back to Gloomhaven for our cash reward... and then went shopping.

We were resting and discussing where to go next when a Cragheart overheard us mention the Misty Sea. So our choice was sort of made for us. We'd find a Captain who could take us across the Misty Sea to the Chained Isle. Not that it worked out as well as we hoped.
